As per Sri Babaji's divine proclamations, since times immemorial Mayiladumkunnu was the abode of great Maharishis who have performed penance. It is also said that there was a temple of Lord Murugan at the very place. Hence the name Mayiladumkunnu. With this background, Sri Babaji has created a Sannidhi for Sri Bhogar Maharishi, the great saint who consecrated the idol of Sri Dhandayudhapaani at Palani Temple made of Navapashaana (Nine types of poisons).
