The abode of Mayiladumkunnu is sanctified by the penance of Maharishis. The very rock on which penance has been done by the Maharishis still exists, this was identified and declared by Sri Babaji as the ‘Gurusthalam’, the seat of the ‘Guru’.
Sri Babaji sat on this very rock and meditated, declaring that this hillock will once again become the abode of Lord Muruga, akin to Palani. Sri Babaji also declared that people from far and wide would visit this abode wearing ‘Maala’ (bead chain) and carrying ‘Kavadi’ (offering to Lord Muruga).
