Sri Kshethra MelPalani akin to Sri Palani Temple has also a path to climb the hillock through a staircase. Pilgrims can park their vehicles at the foot hills in the dedicated parking area and climb the hillock.
At the beginning of the stairway is the Sri Padi Vinayagar, wherein pilgrims follow the custom of praying to Lord Vinayagar and offer a coconut before commencing their climb to the above of Lord Muruga.
It is customary to pray to Lord Vinayagar to clear all the obstacles and help reach atop the hillock to fulfil the vows, while chanting and singing in praise of Lord Muruga.
The stairway is designed with multiple landing points, smaller treads, adequate lighting and hand rails on both sides to enables pilgrims to tread with ease.
